⚔️ Fields of Iron and Echo
Battlefields fade, Echoes endure
A tactical hex-based wargame of grit, terrain, and shifting front lines. Command infantry, cavalry, artillery, and flying beasts across fractured landscapes, where every move echoes through ruins of memory and war. Turn-based activation keeps tension high as players trade tactical blows, harness leadership skills, and exploit the battlefield’s shape to outwit their foes. From thunderous cavalry charges to the last stand in a fortified castle, every decision shapes the fate of your forces—and the legends they leave behind.
Lead. Fight. Remember.
The echoes are watching.

Dev Blog #1 – The Echo Begins
It’s been almost a year since the first sketches of Fields of Iron and Echo took shape—and what a journey it’s been.
Born from a desire to blend tight, tactical gameplay with rich world-building, the game has evolved from scattered ideas and hexes into something far more concrete. And now, as we enter our next phase of development, it feels like the battlefield is finally starting to breathe.
🧱 Where We Stand
So far, we've continued to lock in the core rules, refined them through endless tweaking (with a lot more to go), and built a streamlined activation system that keeps the tension alive turn by turn. Combat feels sharp, terrain matters, and every hex matters.
The setting is coming into focus with the first campaign arc: The Vharnoth Wars. This conflict is just the beginning of what we hope will be a sprawling, brutal and mythic timeline. More on this soon—but let’s just say no faction emerges without scars.
Behind the curtain, we've also:
Developed a growing library of unit profiles, spell lores, and special rules
Carved out a dedicated section on the Ug Hobby website just for Fields of Iron and Echo
Designed and ordered a prototype gaming board
Started work on game pieces, terrain elements, and unit cards
And now, we're entering an exciting new phase—playtesting. Friends of Ug Hobby are being invited to get hands-on with the game and help us shape it. There’s still lots to do, from refining balance to finalizing aesthetics, but the buzz in the air is undeniable.
🚧 What’s Next
As the playtest feedback rolls in, we’ll keep evolving. Expect blog updates covering faction lore, design deep-dives, and sneak peeks at mechanics and miniatures. We’re also exploring how best to package and release the first full experience of Vharnoth and its war-ravaged edges.
If you're reading this and you love hex-based tactics, immersive worlds, or just believe battlefields should tell stories—you’re in the right place.
Thanks for being here at the start.
More echoes to come.
